La Jolla Diagnostics' Subsidiary, DiagnosTech,
Received Standing Order from the Philippines

LA JOLLA, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 4, 1999--La Jolla
Diagnostics Inc. (OTCBB:LAJD - news) announced today
that its subsidiary, DiagnosTech Inc., has received a
standing order from its Philippine distributor to supply its
rapid diagnostic
tests for TB and HIV on an on going basis.

This order follows the Philippine Bureau of Food and
Drugs recent approval of DiagnosTech's products in the
Philippines.

Bruce Whitfield, the company's vice president of
marketing, upon returning from the Philippines
commented, ''The market is
receptive to our products and the need is extraordinary.
With a population of over 70 million people, the
Philippines represents
an enormous market for us.

''TB is a major health problem in most of the world, and is
especially prevalent throughout Asia. HIV is also a large
and
growing problem in Asia.''

DiagnosTech manufactures and markets state of the art
rapid medical diagnostic tests, including tests for TB, HIV,
Hepatitis B,
pregnancy and H. pylori. The company believes that its
proprietary and patent-pending TB test is the only rapid
test proven to
determine the presence or absence of active TB disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 1
billion TB
tests will be performed in the year 2000.
