I have gently tried to correct Darrell in the past,more than once, but all he ever picks up on is my concession that Mussolini started as a socialist, and that some of the Nazis (such as Goebbels) started on the Left, the qualifications have not deterred him. Darrell is a libertarian, and probably very influenced by Ayn Rand, who originally compared Lyndon Johnson's Great Society programs to fascism, so it is a deep rooted tendency....You are quite right, totalitarianism is better conceptual framework for discussing the similarities...I would not discount the communists just yet, if only because there are so many walking around, but I agree that more important threat is from neo- Nazis....
