I do not believe it is a scam either but by that I mean I don't believe there was intent. What is disturbing though is that it is concievable that mistakes were made at the lab resulting in a terrible over estimation of what is actually in the ground.

I am not a believer in the conspiracy theory of the Indonesian gov't working with Freeport to take more of the property although I have also come up with a theory as to how it would take shape as I'm sure most people have.

Keep in mind that a lot of the selling today and next week will be shareholders who are on margin and probably have little choice as to whether or not their stock is sold. Some funds will also take the hit and clear their books. As reported in the Globe today there is still a large amount of stock held within various funds.
