US: Kazakhstan's stockpiles of enriched uranium product (EUP) originated in Russia, according to a report published by the International Trade Commission (ITC) documenting the reasoning behind its recent decision to end antidumping investigations into Kazakh uranium. Only a small proportion of the material was found to meet US specifications. USEC Inc said that as the uranium was of Russian origin, it is subject to the Russian suspension agreement. There is speculation that the Uranium Coalition - which represents US uranium producers - will use the report as a basis for an appeal. FreshFUEL, 2 August.
