The home breakins being higher in Canada are most likely a factor of confidence in that the criminals know they can intimidate without retribution. The court system stinks and lets criminals run about while waiting for the court action and then judges let them off with a smack on their buts. Sentences are usually only served to the lesser part. There is poor immigration practices in Canada which basically allow anyone entry....for instance, boatloads of immigrants are arriving from apparently China, these people have destroyed their identities and Canada whimps out by saying they cannot return these people because they don't know where they came from....duh. The point is, this lack of scrutiny is letting in many undesirables and the Canadian system apparently does not know how or have the resolve to deal with the problem. Guess it will have to get much worse before the authorities are forced to take appropriate action.

Many of the home invasions in the lower mainland of BC are the work of immigrant gang types.
