Just to confuse the issue more. I was told that #1 diesel runs best in 2 cycle engines and # 2 in four cycle engines. Note Cummins is 4 cycle. Detroit Diesels 2 cycle. It apparently has to do with the fact that # 2 while having more sulfur also has a better lubricating quality for the injectors used in the 4 cycle engine. Hence the comments about truckers preferring the #2 and the Dodge with the Cummins running better on #2. #2 also is used in industrial applications like Gen Sets and Crawlers. Cats are 4 cycle. Plenty of market for #2. State governments/contractor off road equipment,etc. Many marine diesels, etc. In the mountain region mining equipment etc. Any comments?
