The thing about American politics is the majority of Americans are politically unaware. Most Americans are not only ignorant of the principles upon which America is founded, but are ignorant of the people who are their representatives and the way they work within the institutions. Thats why American elections are notoriously fickle. People actually believe politicians when they say they have improved the economy, or invented the Internet <g>. So Im not sure that a Republican win in 2000 will mean another 12 year Republican dynasty, ala Reagan/Bush. Also Americans tend to elect an opposing Congress, historically Congress has been Democratic when the President is Republican, and vice versa. This might very well mean an increase in spending along the lines of the Reagan years, but who knows about the Democrats or Republicans these days. :)
