I have heard through a very old acquaintance of mine that CRUS's new system on a chip (the EP7209) that was announced about a month ago, has received a design win for the newest version of Diamonds RIO MP3 player.

Now this may not mean much in terms on instant gratification but long run, this could be a major money maker.

I am told that this will not be announced until after the RIO is actually introduced but, things are looking up.

Also on a somewhat darker note, CRUS did have another layoff albeit not a large number of individuals but some nonetheless. It appears that the Fremont operation is slowly winding down and as some have reported most if not all of the operations will end up in Texas. One has to believe that they will maintain an R&D presence in Silicon Valley but we will have to wait and see to what extent.
