email from CDG: Subject: New Zealand Latest CDMA Convert (from TDMA)

cdmaOne added another country to the worldwide deployment list with Telecom New Zealand's (Telecom) announcement that they will implement a CDMA network. In addition to being significant news for footprint expansion and international roaming opportunities, this decision marks another operator who has moved from TDMA to CDMA, realizing that making the switch will benefit subscribers as well as the operator technically and financially.

Commenting on the decision to deploy cdmaOne, Telecom's Network Group General Manager David Bedford stated, The mobile phone market is growing at a rapid rate and customers are wanting increasingly sophisticated features. With cdmaOne, Telecom will be able to make a seamless transition to the Third Generation world of higher data rates and this will enable Telecom to offer the broadest range of data and voice products and services to our customers.

cdmaOne continues to impress operators with its ability to offer capacity, coverage, and quality advantages that no other digital technology can match and with its seamless migration path to 3G. Advanced services such as high speed data and Internet access are no longer something talked about for the future. Operators are offering these services today, and cdmaOne is supporting the fastest data speeds available at 64 KBPS, with 1XRTT set to support 144 KBPS in the near future. Operators like Telecom are selecting cdmaOne to offer 3G now and to continue building on its benefits long into the future.

I'd like to thank the CDG staff and members who worked to make this possible and continue to support the global expansion of cdmaOne. Telecom's complete announcement can be found on www.cdg.org in Hot News.

Regards,

Perry LaForge
