pat, Re IBM into ATMs. It is becoming clearer that IBM thinks the internet will replace PCs as the next hypergrowth aerea. After having ceded the OS to MSFT and the PC to Apple 15- years ago and got down to $35/share from 162, I don't think they will repeat the same mistake. They will aggressively enter the field.
Any alliances ? :-))

I'll be at a meeting in Florida.Back next Wed.

Best to all,

TA

From today's IBD:

An interview with John Kelly III, general manager of IBM Corp.'s Microelectronics
Division.:

IBD: What's your top priority?

Kelly: To complete the integration of various pieces of design IP (intellectual
property) into our product portfolio. For example, in wired communications
infrastructure - the backbone of the Internet - we're aggressively drawing on
the intellectual property of the (IBM) Network Hardware Division to bring
together network processors and ATM (asynchronous transfer mode)
switches. These are things our customers are clamoring for.
My top priority is to get that IP into the market as quickly as I can.

I like the "clamoring for" part.

Pat
