But there are cost savings and additional gross margins of having an
SOFC.
1) Modular components such as air conditioning, power steering, power breaks, saves on the cost of those components, easier assembly of the
vehicle, and improved engine compartment design.

2) SOFC in a BMW not a YUGo or KIA. Leading edge technology always cost money and are implemented on higher end and luxury vehicles such as Lincolns, Lexuses and Cadillacs along with MBs and BMWs.

My thought is that the SOFC would be too expensive to replace an alternator.
