I would have thought by witnessing the forced "vacation" of your fellow instigator that you would have learned to lighten up on the personal attacks.
You have no right to tell me if I'm right or wrong about my conclusions unless you can present the documented evidence to substantiate why your beliefs are correct and mine wrong.
They are my conclusions to make, and not for you to condemn. Certainly not in such a harassing and hostile manner as you seem so prone to do. And you have no right to demand a "change" in my behavior so long as I'm stating my points in a polite and civil manner.
All of what you state is a potential problem, or series of problems. But for your scenario to occur, it would require a complete failure of all systems EVERYWHERE, which is tantamount to claiming that everything is doomed to fail.
You can't make such a grandiose statement without providing hard data. And to be frank, you haven't got it. Do you know how I know? Because I haven't seen it, nor have any other of the VERY DILIGENT Y2K RESEACHERS seen it in such a form that they can share it with others as a documented source.
All we have is comments from people seeing their own little piece of the world and extrapolating that if they are in such and such a condition, then everyone else must be as well. Well I was trained as an analyst, did graduate work in political risk analysis and quite a few years in the military picking up EVEN more of the discipline.
Analysis is based on facts and not supposition or baseless or faulty extrapolation. And I know what is a fact, and what is unsubstantiated BS. If we can rage against anything, it is the fact that NO ONE is being granted access to the FACTS because the lawyers are preventing it.
But just because the lawyers are hyper-protective due to the highly unpredictable nature of Y2K, does not mean they are lying about the readiness of their IT and operational systems. It just means they are NOT SAYING ANYTHING, not even esculpatory facts because they are worried about that little glitch that could make them all out to be liars.
Well, I can tell you that I know of one major governmental agency that is SQUARED away for Y2K ,and the system they are using is the same one they will be using over 2000. But no one hears this (and I'm not going to say in order to protect the privacy of those I know who work there).
But all I hear is how the govt is going to fail to be Y2K ready and will shut down. Well, that may be, but the people I know can only vouch for their systems which have been remediated, tested, and validated and are READY TO GO.
So yeah.. if the entire power grid goes down for a couple of months, then bend over and kiss our butts (and civilization) goodbye.
If all of these other disruptions occur, then yeah, it could get nasty.
And yeah... we all could wake up tomorrow to find ourselves exposed to a nasty biological agent or to civil defence sirens broadcasting that 30 minute nuclear countdown....
But that's life, bearcub. Life is full of unexpected events and you know what?? People adjust. People make due. People help each other. People protect each other from those who violate social norms.
And People rebuild that which was destroyed or disrupted.
And no matter how much preparation you think you have done, it sometimes is never enough. Or you find your preparations are "evercome by events" like being robbed, mobbed, or evacuated by the govt "for your own safety".
So get a clue, bearcub... stop harassing me and others.. temper your remarks or find another place to find defenseless victims for your personal attacks or harassment. |
