Paul - When the market crashed in 1987 CNBC had only been braodcasting a short time. I believe that was the largest market correction since
29' and it was all on TV. It was high drama.

Imagine a 600 - 700 point drop being reported blow by blow. And that was with a dow at 2400-2500.

The months leading up to that were actually quite similar to what we have here; "exhuberance", valuations, extreme volatilty. The market would drop a hundred and bounce right back, then it stopped bouncing.
Thinking back gives me cold sweats - no one needs to live that again.

The federal reserve better start calming the market or it will be a hell of a 10 year anniversary. Frankly, I think we've bearly recovered from 87'. The country can not withstand another market drop of those proportions - the homes that don't get bought, futures and pensions ruined, business' gone, unemployment. It is not pretty.
