Tero, couldn't we just pretend that Clinton's mob didn't bomb the Chinese embassy then tell them to get over it offering some derisory compensation, that Charlene and Clinton agreed to WTO membership by China, that Clinton allowed free trade between countries, that Clinton is in favour of human rights for Chinese [he keeps lecturing them about Tiananmen Square but what about little details like the right not to be bombed when not at war], that Taiwan, the USA and China won't get into conflict over who should be the boss and collects the taxes from Taiwan. That Zhu, Jiang and co will stop going all out on GSM and will start ordering cdmaOne gear from Ericy and the old Lusk Boulevard plant.
It's sad how ugly reality has a way of messing up grand plans. The more naive among my Q! fan club colleagues think that because cdmaOne is better, China will have to buy it. Oh dear! That just isn't the way people work.
Not to worry, Bill and Jiang are coming to Auckland in a month or so and they can have a nice chat here together, a nice cup of tea and sail on the harbour in some America's Cup yachts. They'll feel so agreeable and happy after that, that they'll wonder what all the aggro was about.
China will enter the WTO. Bill will write out a big cheque to compensate for the mistaken bombing of the embassy. Taiwan and China will come to some temporary but long-running modus operandi to keep the peace. Then the cdmaOne network operators in China will order up large quantities of basestations.
We won't worry about tariffs on lamb sales in the interests of having a nice happy time. If Bill insists on dribbling out of both sides of his mouth - one about how he is all for Free Trade and the other on how American farmers need tariff protection against those dynamic NZ farmers, we'll just let him get on with it. He's all for family [out one side of his mouth] and he's so keen on families [out the other] that he needs a whole harem. He clutches a bible in one hand while fondling Monica with the other.
All will be well with the world.
Meanwhile, GSM and Nokia clean up in China. This isn't how it was supposed to go.
