Thanks, all, (John, Peter, V1, Stuart) for all the green shoe info; thanks, all, also for the thread, very helpful.

I'm still pretty baffled by how 'the market' and the share price of individual stocks move. I do a lot of reading before I invest; co. profiles, SEC filings, WEB sites, (the co's & medical/disease sites) annual reports, research/writing published by scientists affiliated w/ the company.

I also try to get a feel for what others think about the company's science & business, often by reading an SI (sometimes Yahoo) thread from start to finish.

Although I've been quite fortunate in most of my investments (SHMN & ABTI being the notable exceptions) still, I feel like there's an awful lot of luck (forces I don't understand) and a rising tide involved.

Your discussions help, though I often can't be much of an active participant.

BTW, is what happened w/ the BerkB offering 'green shoe' ?-- where Warren Buffet just said: I'll put out as much as people want so there won't be an (artificial) demand and price rise after the offering.
