Thanks for your cheerful post! I'm sure it made us all feel much better! Like you, I hope we're not gonna see another crack like the one in '87. But either way, let's face it: until interest rates begin going down again--or at least stop going up--the market ain't gonna be happy. If that's all that happens--something similar to what happened in '94, we can live with it. There'll always be individual stocks that'll do well, and you can always play the short side. We'll see.

Want something else to worry about? Hong Kong. If the handover goes badly it'll have quite an effect on Asian markets, and an effect on us as well.

On another topic: perhaps we can be glad ORCL didn't show a serious interest in NOVL. Ellison really is cheap. See the terms he proposes offering AAPL:
