The tone of your PM suggested that you knew him, or knew of him, and that he could provide some useful information.

As it turns out, recent disclosures would indicate that he would not likely have shared any information with me and that he might have been perturbed that I tracked him down.

I disagree. He was an active broker at the time; had lots of clients, most of whom presumably didn't have mob ties. If you'd merely asked for information about the mechanics of shortselling in Canada, I should think he'd have been happy to tell you about it.

Despite all of Pugs's rants, there's no evidence that I'm aware of that either AZNT or RMIL, or their shortsellers, had anything to do with the case that's being prosecuted against Patterson and others. It's probable that he brokered some trades involving the stock of both companies, but then Pacific International has long been a logical choice of brokerages for those who want to short BB stocks in Canada.

I would, though, be interested in knowing more about his relationship with Mike Sylver, if such ever existed. Pugs suggested that it did.
