Hi Bosco, I've been away for a while, dealing with personal fiscal issues. Thought I'd drop by and see who sticking the stick in the anthill, and caught your post.<g> So this forum has reached the point of discussing politico-military aspects of the situation of PRC and ROC ? I am reminded of the reprimand I received many months ago when I broached the subject. Glad to see another stick twister sees fit to keep things stirred up.
Has there been discussion here of the underlying economic impact ? I think it is certainly useful to view the relative importance of Taiwan to the economic/electronic world. It's my opinion that a significant amount of high tech commerce depends upon a peacefully productive Taiwan. I imagine the impact a disruption to logistical flows of wafers from TSMC, UMC, etc would have on the technology sector and shudder. Kind of "the mouse that is roaring" situation. I wonder what the TSMC's customer list looks like.<g>
Not many years ago, I read that the centralist gov't of PRC was anachronistic, that the mainland power base was fragmenting into regionalities of economic power. It sounded like an almost too good to be true view that communist ideological leadership was slipping into a permanent state of remission, that more pragmatic economic leadership was taking root and morphing the mainland a new ideological form that smacked of latent capitalism. Any thoughts on that evolution ?
Or on the impact of an economic disruption to the status quo of tech business dependence on companies like TSMC, if things should deteriorate politically between the two Chinas ?
Here try my stick, I think its longer.<g> |
