George,

Funny how the numbers are changing. The military
analysts are also pointing out how the number of
Serbs killed in the B-52 cluster bomb attack has
gone from 1,000 to 500, to about a dozen now. Most
of the people killed were actually KLA fighters.
The Serbs were in bunkers because they saw some
A-10 "Warthogs" drop flares on their positions and
knew that a bombing raid was imminent.

The number of tanks destroyed in Kosovo has also gone
from 300 down to about 30 (which includes tanks left
behind that may have had mechanical failure and were
dumped). Apparently we were very adept at destroying
decoys though, having destroyed almost 500 of them.
Milosevic decided to pull his army out though, after
he determined that NATO was going to invade around
September 1st with about 170,000 troops. He did not
want a military situation like what happened to Iraq
in Kuwait.
