(Nasdaq:MSFT - news) shares firmed in pre-open U.S. trade Thursday, edging up to $85.625 from $84.94 amid a report the software giant is plotting to offer low-cost, or even free, Internet access. According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft is targeting America Online Inc's (NYSE:AOL - news) hold on the Internet-access business.> I have often considered AOL (and pretty much every other "net" stocks) over valued. In UK, there is a already a company that offers free access that AOL is struggling to compete with. In US, there are couple of startups that are doing the same. Add that to the discount PC phenomenon and AOL valuation makes no sense. Going back to stuff closer to home: The bad news is AMD is in the $15 range. The good news is I-Watch shows ABSOLUTELY no institutional selling. (there is some in almost all the other semi stocks including Intel) I am out of my CY position and sitting on some cash. Too tempting to buy now for a quick pop...aargh Chuck
