taxman - I was short 3 stocks - AOL, AMZN, CMGI. I covered when NAZ hit -60 figuring it is unlikely to go lower, so better take profits.

I don't play options because I need SPEED, SPEED, SPEED of reation. Trading options is much slower than stocks which I can trade with split second speed. Also, I have my tools set up - LII etc., and I don't have that transparency in options, so I don't trade them. Plus I hate to pay premium.

As far as % - I short AMZN very carefully - not many shares, because like I told t2K - liquidity concerns (same w/ CMGI). But AOL - I love to short it in big gobs - last time, it was 40% of my portfolio. AOL doesn't move up as fast as AMZN, and also it is easier to cover/short.
