(COMTEX) B: C-Phone Selected by VueCare for Its Video Communications
B: C-Phone Selected by VueCare for Its Video Communications Technology for
In-home Healthcare Services

WILMINGTON, N.C., Aug 5, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) --

Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Merck and Giant Eagle
Participate in Program Roll-Out

C-Phone Corporation (NASDAQ: CFON) has been selected by VueCare
In-Home Health Services to provide the video link in a national in-home
telehealth services program, resulting in one of the largest healthcare
projects of its kind.

Participants in the program include Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield,
Merck-Medco Managed Care, L.L.C., Landmark Home Health Services,
Gateway Health Plan, USX and Giant Eagle Pharmacy.

VueCare has built its in-home telehealth infrastructure on C-Phone's
DS324 video communication technology. The system is easy to use --
nurses install the equipment and train patients in its use. It provides
an improved level of 24-hour home healthcare services and reduces the
cost of these services, particularly in terms of fewer emergency room
visits and less need for costly transportation to healthcare facilities
and doctors' offices.

Currently, VueCare and C-Phone are providing in-home video equipment
and services to chronically ill, long-term home care patients in
Pennsylvania and plan to roll out a nationwide service.

"C-Phone is committed to the advancement of telemedicine projects,"
said Jim Jarvis, vice president of sales and marketing, C-Phone
Corporation. "Our partnership with VueCare reinforces our commitment to
providing high-performance video communications equipment to this
growing market segment. Support by the key participants in the VueCare
project demonstrates the recognition of the viability of these
high-quality, cost-effective healthcareprograms."

By providing video communications systems to patients and their care
providers, the VueCare program gives patients access to healthcare
products and services 24 hours a day, seven days per week. This new
technology supplements patients' current care programs, increasing
convenience and access to health care. Traditional home visits continue
to be provided and, on days when an in-home nurse visit is not

scheduled, the patient is seen by a registered nurse via the C-Phone
system. In addition, patients have 24-hour access to members of their
healthcare team in the case of an emergency.

"By specifically focusing on video-enabled telemedicine networks, the
VueCare program greatly enhances the communication between the patient
and care team members," said George Harris IV, co-founder and chief
executive officer, VueCare. "It was critical that the technology be
simple and easy for anyone to install and operate. That's why we chose
C-Phone's technology andhardware."

"Preliminary analysis amply suggest that this technology has the
potential to add convenience, increase access, improve quality and
reduce cost," said John Brause, chief executive officer, Highmark Blue
Cross/Blue Shield.

VueCare has already begun installation of the C-Phone systems and
intends to have approximately 300 systems installed in patient homes
and the offices of care providers by the end of this year.

The C-Phone DS-234 line is a family of TV videophone products that
provide video and audio connections using ISDN digital lines as well as
a host of other communication mediums. The completely self-contained TV
'set-top box' is controlled from a wireless remote control interface.
It includes a built-in camera, an analog modem, an ISDN interface
providing connections at 128,000 bits per second and all audio/video,
infrared and RF subsystems. A dedicated CPU handles the embedded
operating system.
