All good strategic questions. IMHO, I think the DOJ will be watching this venture closely as it appears to be a move to nullify AOL (and friends) and strengthen MSFT's net standing and desktop all in one go. No doubt MSN will integrate server side products with client side but I can't see them forcing clients to use MSFT specific products; the DOJ would blow a gasket on that one.

We haven't begun to realize the ISP and other net stock fallouts that will occur from this. MSFT has the money and the talent to build a web-within-a-web on MSN ... and it will soon have a following to justify it ! MSN ... your one stop web ? ;)
