Post New • Post Reply Prev • Next Subject: Glore's Performance Date: 8/5/99 10:05 AM Author: stillhere Number: of 24134 I think Jodie has done a good job, so far. His first goal as the Manager is to look at the bottom line, and he has done that by reducing expenses, head count and closing redundant facilities. Jodie's second goal is to realign, reduce and reorganize the management staff, and he has and will continue to do that. His third goal is to push Clik to OEMs, and he has done a good job on that, too. Remember, IOM is not Sony with their marketing muscle and budget to force OEMs to respond quickly. Jodie's fourth goal is to bring new products to market, and he has done that too with Optical drives and probably DVD.
I believe the reason why Jodie is keeping a closed lip about IOM now is to buy time for all his plans to work. I also believe his job is also to enhance long term shareholder value, and not to respond to the day traders, rumors or even "US", impatient investors.
I am not here to defend Glore, but I think his work so far is commendable.
The following is strictly my opinion:
1) Zip is standard -- it will be the cash cow for a long time.
2) Clik is being reviewed by OEMs and new design features will be incorporated by IOM to OEM's new products.-- Clik will be the new Zip, but the adaption time and life cycle will be shorter.
3) Optical/DVD market-- IOM will partner with all major manufactures to profit from this market. IOM probably will play as the R&D partner. |
