Unfortunately, few, if any, western folks focused any attention on China those days. China was a country looked upon with disdain or ignored entirely. So probably nobody cared to warn them of any impending catastrophe. Being a highly pragmatic people, the Chinese did not indulge themselves in astrology and, even if they did, perhaps their system of astrology was not sophisticated enough to warn them of that impending disaster.

As with many things, as usual, there are always "cracks" in the wall! And so, occasionally, important things do slip by unnoticed!

Suffice it to say the Chinese were not as sophisticated and their communications were not as advanced those days as they are now and so many were not informed in time, even if a warning was issued. I have noticed that humans tend to act perversely at times and igmore warnings.
