From what I've seen, "consolidation" in biotech means "Uh, we think there's going to be less of you guys around". The expectation is 1. get Munched or 2. run dry, preferably choice 1. Few vc or institutions are willing to do a bridge nowadays unless they know exactly where its going. Apparently public equity investors are only a bit more generous.
