Thank you for your support, and especially for your much more diplomatic way of putting things. I try my best to be tactful but, when I get my toes stepped on, I tend to get a little gruff.
Gus, and even MNI, try to study what goes on in America but their sources tend to be specialized and limited. The only way to really get to know the people of this country, is to travel the back roads and talk face to face. The media tends to concentrate on the large and newsworthy cities where they think the action is. To really know America, one must get to know the ordinary citizen who builds the bridges, paves the roads, fills the churches, tries to save his hard earned wages, and unfortunately, fight the wars that take him far from home, sometimes fighting for a cause he does not fully understand. The politicians, sports stars, celebrities, etc. are the fat of the land. The average Joe is the backbone of America. TD |
