What Y4K asteroid are you referring to? If there was such an asteroid coming close to the Earth in the year 4000 we would have plenty of time to deflect it. A small nudge 100 years or so in advance would deflect the trajectory enough to cause it to miss us. That is unless we let the religionists turn the world back into the dark ages again. I see that as more of a threat. Also comets are much more of a wild card.
