To: All What about Globalink (Amex, GNK)? This co. has historically been a dominant player in consumer translation software, but they have recently developed a variety of translation packages specifically for the Internet, many of them targeting businesses. They offer both software translation and a pool of human translators. It seems to me the ability to TRANSLATE Web and other content is (a) more indispensable and (b) harder to copy (i.e., not a simple "commodity" like multilingual word-processing/browser software). Since the release of the Internet translation products, GNK's revenues & earnings are on the increase, and with the growing internationalization of the Internet and commerce generally, this strikes me as a niche with considerable potential. Globalink has also just retained Prudential to assist them in assessing their strategic alternatives (vague, but generally getting together with someone like Pru is good news). This stock might have some longer-term interest... I'd like to hear what you think.
