Well, let's talk shorts... Say you are short a stock last week. Market tanks, your hated stock goes up. Sheesh! What's it take to kill this dog? Better cover! Suppose you are short to hedge your bond. The market tanks, MRVC doesn't. Kind of makes you re-evaluate if you need to pay for quite so big a hedge. Suppose you are looking for small cap bargains, and this little growth/value stock just keeps ridin' the storm out. Maybe it's a good buy? Last year, it seems to me that AAPL did much the same thing. When things looked bad, AAPL would be bucking the trend. Volatile? Sure. But I think the turnaround might be started. We won't know for another 4 quarters, and the street won't know for another 8. It's really early to tell. But a lot of the old timers, and i mean analyst types, are going to be putting a lot of weight on the next two q's, imo. Thoughts ? W
