Hi Frank, so in other words this fits the textbook definition of a discontinuous innovation--not compatible with existing systems. I guess we'll now begin to see how all-encompassing their business plan is, because if they're expecting to sit and wait while others develop the complementary products to support their product at the core, they may be in for a long wait. In other words, they're just researchers working on a nifty science project.

Somehow I suspect the giant salvo was fired strategically, and at least a single-source complementary lineup is being co-developed and readied for deployment. They need big bang after big bang. Widely-spaced announcements and technical milestones don't upset the apple cart to the degree that is necessary to begin to pry a market away from their comfortable technologies. But, Carpet bombing requires quite a stock pile of ammo. We'll see what they've been saving up.
