Maurice - Good rant - That implies that there is some process which defines the surface and the correct order in which to connect to the information they provide free, with no licenses and no warnings that they are criminal lawyers.

Agree absolutely, but don't assume that the legal system will 'do the right thing'. The history of IPR is one of massive confusion and poorly written statutes, often for decades, after the introduction of new technology. The saving grace is that it is probably true that people making the laws and deciding the cases will actually have some experience with the technology (unlike with software IPR).
