Sorry, Penni....the focus of the film is on the way in which we insist on truth as a means to intimacy, and fail to realize that truth is often shocking and disorienting, leading to alienation rather than intimacy. It is about the way in which we demand security in our lives, to the point of denying that there are snares that must be resisted, and the difficulty of accepting the snares. It is about the decadence that beckons when one is affluent, and has lost one's moral compass, and the lure of experiment and adventure, the willingness to risk everything in pursuit of some absolute experience. But finally, it is about how much better it is to cleave to one's family, to be committed and to accept the challenge. It is a deeply moral movie.....
