MTT Mobility Delivers E-Mail and Information in True Mobile Fashion

New InforMe Messaging Service Delivers E-mail, Web Messages, Stock Quotes
and More, Directly to Cell Phones and Pagers

DARTMOUTH, NS, Aug. 5 /CNW/ - MTT Mobility today introduced InforMe(TM)
Messaging, a service that allows users to receive E-mail and World Wide Web
messages to their digital phones and alphanumeric pagers. InforMe Messaging
also delivers customized news headlines, local weather forecasts, stock
quotes, personal reminders and even daily horoscopes. The new integrated
service is the first of its kind in Eastern Canada.
''InforMe is another clear example of MTT Mobility leading the way in the
practical application of converging technologies,'' said Brian Fitzpatrick,
Director of Sales and Marketing. ''We are combining wireless communications
with e-mail, the Internet, and customized information to provide cutting edge
services to our customers.''
InforMe Messaging has two distinct elements: Text Messaging and Info
Services.
With InforMe's Text Messaging, customers have access to a variety of
useful services. They can receive and view text messages on their digital
phones and alphanumeric pagers. Messages can be sent to these customers by
e-mail, with each phone or pager having a unique e-mail address. Messages can
also be sent via the Internet, through the MTT Mobility web site, by simply
clicking on the ''Send A Message'' button and typing in the phone or pager
number of the InforMe customer they are trying to reach. Messages, which can
be up to 126 characters or about 30 words in length, are stored when a phone
is turned off, ensuring digital customers never miss an important message.
By calling a toll-free line, friends or colleagues can also send a
numeric message to a customer's cellular phone without incurring long distance
charges. This call can be returned immediately by pressing the phone's SEND
key. ''InforMe's Text Messaging is a convenient and cost-effective way for
people to remain in constant touch,'' said Fitzpatrick. ''Coupled with
InforMe's Info Services, our customers will have a world of information at
their fingertips.''
InforMe's Info Services delivers timely, customized information to either
a digital phone or alphanumeric pager. There are two service ''bundles'' to
choose from. The Business Bundle provides end-of-day stock quotes on two
companies from any of North America's top stock exchanges. Customers also get
breaking business news headlines delivered to them twice daily. The Lifestyle
Bundle offers customers two options from the following: personal reminders
about important meetings or anniversaries, local weather forecasts from
Environment Canada, a daily horoscope, or headline news delivered twice daily
by The Canadian Press.
Customers can manage their InforMe Messaging services through the MTT
Mobility web site, where they can, for example, change their stocks or alter
their profile to include one of the other Lifestyle Bundle options. InforMe is
currently available to all MTT Mobility digital cellular customers in the
Halifax and Truro areas and all paging customers on the 149 and 171
frequencies.
''My clients loved it,'' said Paul Barkhouse, President of Halifax-based
Coatings, Computers and Technologies and one of the first people to try the
new service. ''They began using the Text Messaging feature almost immediately.
It's another way to make sure I am in constant touch with my clients. It helps
my clients and it helps me.''
MTT's InforMe is a result of a partnership with another
telecommunications industry leader, Bell Mobility, and Intelligent Information
Incorporated (iii) a leading information aggregator within the wireless
communications industry.
