Bombardier Transportation Awarded Contracts in France and Germany for a Total of $135 Million
AUGUST 6, 1999 MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Bombardier Transportation has been awarded contracts in Europe for approximately CDN $135 million. France Bombardier Transportation has received orders from SNCF of France (Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer) for the supply of 12 Duplex TGV trainsets and from RATP (Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) for the supply of 12 additional MI2N trainsets (double-deck interconnecting trainsets), within the framework of the collaboration with Alstom. The 12 Duplex TGV trainsets for SNCF will be delivered between September 2001 and September 2003. Bombardier Transportation will assemble two first class cars and one second class car for each trainset, representing 36 cars in all out of a total of 120, and will also assemble 72 carrying bogies for an overall amount of CDN $65 million (264 million FF). The 12 MI2N trainsets for RATP, each comprising 5 vehicles, will be delivered between February 2001 and February 2002. Bombardier Transportation will build the 36 intermediate power cars for the 12 trainsets. This contract represents a total amount of approximately CDN $49 million (200 millions FF). Germany In Germany, Bombardier Transportation was awarded a contract on the delivery of six Talent diesel-mechanical multiple units (dmus) to the German private operator Eurobahn Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (Eurobahn). The contract is valued at approximately CDN $21 million (25 million DM). The three-car dmus will be manufactured by Bombardier Transportation in Aachen (Germany). They will be delivered between April and May 2000.
