Jeff, you are correct. I had taken past earnings from quote.yahoo.com

But their number (2.19) disagrees with earnings to 4/96 of 1.88 (Zacks). If MDT makes 2.23 for the year ending 4/97 it will have increased earnings year-to-year 18.6 %. In light of this the 15%
outlook proposed by management is conservative. The P/E does look
precarious. I'll look for an industry comparison.

PS: I don't know how the 2.19 was computed. But I know that Value
Line, for example, uses 2 past and two forward quarters.
