In the thick of the evolution of audio playback services, Audible offers more than 16,000 hours of content via the Internet. Visitors to Audible's Web site can purchase and download audio content ranging from audiobooks to audio editions of newspapers to radio broadcasts. About two-thirds of Audible's sales come from its MobilePlayer handheld playback device. The company intends to phase out the MobilePlayer as it expands its efforts to team with PC manufacturers to incorporate its software into their products.
