BAck to the future thinking! I like it!
I agree, the Internet is changing the world big time and making people much happier....
But, about people leaving the work place is interesting too. And I have seen a few shows about it.
And industry that I come from (my dad and what I have been working in since I was 12) is the SERVICE industry. This will never go away. What I am talking about is like refrigeration, ice delivery (to businesses, restaruarns, special functions), and those type services. This is where I come from and know a lot about. These will NEVER go away and will only grow stronger as people make more and mroe money and pay for services instead of doing it thereselves..
And this is seomthing that has been on my mind and might be coming around the block in the next oh..10-20 years..
Everybody now days is focused on Globalization. The college classes for International Business are packed. Everybody wants to get in on this global business and get rich....What happens when you get to big (and I will use Packaged Ice - a company I am very familiar with - ICED is the ticker)..This is not a global company, but the largest ice company in America or the EAst coast..one or the other. They are getting so big they just don't offer SERVICE like they used to . They don't care what customers think, because they think they are the ONLY company in town. MANY companies are acting like this that are getting big. This is where I see Small Business coming back into power. After all, this is what built the United States. Small Business offer SERVICE. Why? Because their families meals depend on it every night. People want service and somebody to talk to when something isn't right. This is why my dad has been taking accounts like there is nothing to it. People HATE these big ice companies and refrigeration companies...they just don't offer the service. My dad's biz has been in biz for over 50 years (family biz).(sorry about all the BIZ's!) Because he has offered the SERVICE that people want. AT the ice company, we have doubled every year and still can't keep up. People are getting tired of the big boys...
This is where Is ee companies that acquire small businesses, leave the management there, but use "formulas" to run the business, succeeding and making it big time. I think the world is going to do a total reverse in the future and we are going to go back to small businesses. Just my views.
A company I really like and understand very will is NYSE-FIX They acquire refrigeration/AC companies and keep the "small business" titles and workers there. They just get % of the profits. Sure, this isn't sexy right now, but when the market turns to VALUE stocks again, it will be big...
I hope I didn't lose anybody...This is just what I am seeing in the FUTURE..A turn to small businesses...and the people that own a lot of them will profit..Check out FIX...Le'ts look for more like this..Maybe even an Internet stock that holds a few smaller Internet sties...
