I clicked "file" the first time(just to see what it was) for one of my messages, then created a folder in which to file it to. But after I created the folder, *poof!*

I had the same problem..someone else also mentioned it on this thread. I agree that the filing system could be improved. One has to make a folder first. If you try to file before a folder is created you will lose the message.

If you lose a message you can find it in the trash. You can file a message that is in the trash. You have 48 hours..and then *poof* someone empties the trash.
