Isn't wavelet compression unsuitable for network traffic because it is inherently extremely lossy? The only applications of wavelet compression that I have seen are in the area of image compression ... briefly wavelet compression kicks butt on JPEG ... e.g., wavelet compression add-in for PhotoShop. Interestingly enough, Aware, Inc.
