The fact is that these large stores like Sears have operating overhead that a warehouse doesn't. To what extent do people need to walk through Malls and large stores to shop? To some extent since it is a fun thing in its own right and it is often necessary to touch the goods before buying. However, there's a lot that can be done in virtual space before going to tactual space. A few biggies will go extensively to the Net route and force for financial competitive reasons the others, some of whom can't go extensively there, to go substantially there. This is demographic on top of economic, so it will happen in any event.
