Jock used the words "unpredictably cyclical business". I would rather say "predictable" cyclical business, since we all know the semi business hit the pit bottom last Fall when LSI was @ $ 12. Now that business has picked up and the stock is performing well, there aren't that many doomsday predictors. To be realistic , the downturn will come, but definitely not in 1999, and 2000. Maybe not even in 2001. As long as the sales and profits keep growing, there will be more room for price advancement. BBRS still has "strong buy" on LSI and I have seen that report and the future for LSI is bright. The semi/chip upturn has just begun and it will be several months before, a slowdown arrives. Another stock I own, the small SSTI has been zooming lately because of news (maybe even rumors!) of flash memory shortage. If you look at LSI, ESST, SSTI, ALSC, AMAT, LLTC etc. for the past one year the price curve is up steeply - pointing clearly towards a bright future!
