I'm still in a "pause" mode on this one. I talked to the company briefly about a month ago after they announced the termination of the relationship with the company working with selling their CMP material. I called AMAT and asked if they ever used nanophase type materials and they replied that the engineers had had a hard time of keeping the material in suspension. Apparently they were not using Nanophase products and Nanophase told me that they did not have any trouble with keeping their material in suspension. They then asked if I had any ties with AMAT that would help get them in the door there. Unfortunately I am only a lowly physicist and couldn't help.

One aspect of my talking with NANX was that it sounded like the company they cancelled their selling arrangement with was not doing its job very well. I further got the impression that they wanted to take more control of selling customers on their product. That is good news for me since I imagine that few engineers will know how to use nano type materials and will encounter problems that will cause them to abandon them for more conventional solutions. However if NANX works hand in hand with some companies on CMP processes, they should be able to solve problems like AMAT encountered. Note again, I am virtually certain that AMAT was not using NANX products; however, the problem of keeping nanoparticles in suspension doesn't sound that hard to solve to tell the truth but things like that have to be handled by the experts who make the materials and you can't depend on the sales force for any help there.

I must admit that the last time NANX was at 1 3/4 I started to buy some more just for a short term trade, and at its current price I may actually give into the temptation this time!
