The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday, February 15, edition that Jackee Pratt earned 42.5 per cent return for the Maxxum Natural Resource Fund last year which was ranked among the top 10 mutual funds for three and five year periods ended December 31 1996. The Globe's Andrew Allentuck writes that Ms Pratt runs the fund with a bottom up growth oriented selection strategy. Since November 1995 the fund's assets have doubled during her watch. One of the company's her fund currently holds is Carmanah Resources. Carmanah is an oil exploration play with properties in Indonesia. Cash flow is estimated to be $1.70
a share in 1998, up from 9 cents in 1995. Ms Pratt says she is comfortable with the political situation in Indonesia. The government recognizes that the nation needs outside expertise and capital, she says. If any company suffers, that could impede Indonesia's ability to attract capital and expertise, she says. Ms Pratt's 12 month target is $9.
