Hi wallstreeter; About those pass through fees that Altech and the other daytrading firms charge...

The costs to the daytrading firms differ according to how the traders get fills. The thing to look at is how much the total commissions are, not just the presence or absence of pass through fees.

I think that the traders and the trading office form a symbiotic relationship. Both need each other. I like the pass through fees. I don't think of it as adding to my costs when I use certain ECNs, (like BTRD). Instead, I think of it as reducing my costs when I use the cheaper fills. It does make the game more complicated, though.

I think that learning trading at MBtrader is a great idea, given those $5 limited time commissions. My only complaint is that their $5 special is limited to a time much too short for most people to learn trading. It should be offered for a year.
