With regards to INTC own NIC, i didn't know it has such a huge mkt share
until it started the price war with COMS and people wrote about it. It
seems that INTC's strategy is seeding *friends*, as opposed to being a
*borg,* which leads me to think that it won't be a suitor for CSCC.

I never thought of INTC as a suitor for CSCC. However, the SMSC issue was because the price was so low. SMSC use to be a decent player with some of the newest technology. They lost their technology advantage about two years ago and have only been existing on nich markets in commidity items. This was an easy way for INTC to attack COMS with a low price point card. That is my humble opinion. I use to follow SMSC and invest in that company until they lost their edge.

PS INTC wants to battle with COMS badly and vice versa. My postions are such that I wish INTC would just stick to CPUs. I have CSCC, USRX/COMS, CSCO, FORE and XYLN. I do not need INTC cutting margins further for any of them. It is my opinion that LU would be a great suitor although the two year stock issue was new to me tonight. That does not rule out bonds, lines of credit, etc. I suspect there is someway to have a pulling of interests and get around that issue.
