Couldn't agree more, Larry.
But, before we get too full of ourselves, we should think about how opposition is stifled here in the US of A. We sue 'em into oblivion or kill them instead of jailing them.
I recall a few years ago, some group in San Francisco (of course!) was sued for opposing a HUD housing project -- some arcane law allowed the Feds to sue private citizens for opposing a public project.
Or, how about the current issue of the US Nazi Party (patooie!) being sued by the District of Columbia for the police protection they didn't use, because the mayor of the city called out the reserves to counter-protest, thereby intimidating the Nazis into calling off the gathering?
And, if someone REALLY disagrees with our National Government (we no longer have a Federal Gov't), they get blown away, but I don't want to put salt on still unhealed wounds.
So, while I agree with you completly, we shouldn't consider ourselves as being too high and mighty.
