Laser,

After reading Mr. Enyart' report twice, I think I have more questions than I had before. It is a nice little report about a nice little gold deposit. Little proven reserves and limited probable reserves. However this is not the type of gold deposit which is generally considered to be leachable by modern day standards. There is too much quartz and too many sulfides. Sulfide ore is not leachable.

This type of deposit is mined, crushed, milled and then subjected to gravity or floatation. Sometimes the tails from these are treated with cyanide to enhance recovery of the fine gold lost in the gravity process.

It is also possible with some of these small quartz deposits to ship the mined ore directly to the smelter. The smelter can use high silica ores for flux and they can also recover any gold and silver that might be in the quartz.

I do not know much about Haber's process becaue it is secret. I am hesitant to comment on something I don't know anything about. However, since the ore is in a quartz matrix, I would think that the ore will have to ground fairly fine to make the gold available to the leachate.

Underground mining costs at small vein operations like this run about $60 to $80 per ton. This does not include milling or ore treatment costs. There are lots of small mines like this throughout the west. Hardly any of them are in operation.
