They all started with fundamentally different business plans.. PTSC originally concentrated on it's Ground Penetrating & Stealth radar technologies..... The ShBoom PSC1000 chip was originally going to be used in a device to search for explosives.... Coincidentally and incidentally SUN came out with Java and the Shboom found a new use.
