<Do you mean CREAF must wait for 2 days after it announces earnings before it is allowed to buy back shares?>

Exactly. This is a self imposed restriction that CREAF and most other companies follow. For some reason, quiet periods extend until two days AFTER earnings are announced. CREAF and most other companies have a policy of not buying back shares during their quiet periods. The fact that the quiet period extends beyond the earnings release must be an old standard before the days of the internet and instant information. Companies probably wanted to allow a couple days for the earnings news to disseminate. Of course now, with the internet, anyone who wants to know can know the results just a few minutes after earnings are released.

Yes, someone else was supporting the price....it could be traders jumping in hoping to ride any momentum created when CREAF does resume the buyback. It could also be shorts who covered thinking that the worse is probably now factored in.
